Colossal Ruins is a sub-world in Sand Kingdom that can be entered via a Moon Pipe in the starting area of Tostarena Ruins. The level involves using Rocket Flowers to dash along the side of a large sloped section as it slowly sinks into poison.

Trivia

  • A trickjump can be used to skip the sinking section entirely, allowing the Colossal Ruins: Dash! Jump! moon to be collected without the spark pylon capture. This is known by the trickjumping community as "Captureless God."[1]
  • It is possible to traverse the sinking ruins without activating the trigger area that causes them to begin sinking.[2] The trigger zone only activates when Mario stands on solid ground within it, meaning its activation can be avoided by landing on the very edge of the ground closest to the screen after being ejected from the spark pylon. From there, it is possible to trickjump over the portion of ground contained within the trigger zone in order to access the rest of the course.
    • Even without the trigger zone skip, it is possible to complete the sinking section without the use of any Rocket Flowers.[3] (Note that without the requirement of taking the spark pylon and completing the sinking section, the trickjump to skip the sinking section entirely also serves the purpose of collecting the Colossal Ruins: Dash! Jump! moon without using Rocket Flowers.)
  • There exists an infinite area object that prevents the use of Assist Mode bubbles within this sub-world.
