Under Siege refers to two variants of a sub-world that takes place in an area resembling nighttime Metro Kingdom and containing numerous Sherm enemies, found in Metro Kingdom and Dark Side. The Metro Kingdom version is accessed via the capturable taxi and involves collecting five Moon Shards, while the Dark Side version involves collecting fruit as Yoshi.

Trivia

  • Both variants of the level, not just the Metro Kingdom variant, contain the loading zone that returns the player to the location of the capturable taxi in Metro Kingdom after leaving the level. It is thought that the developers neglected to remove it from the Dark Side variant, since it is normally blocked by a wall regardless. However, as discovered by Adaly Debest, the loading zone can still be reached in said variant using a series of wall jumps with Yoshi to bypass an invisible ceiling and traverse over to it.[1] The loading zone is completely functional in bringing Mario to the appropriate spot in the Metro Kingdom overworld, albeit with a longer loading time than usual.
  • Theorized by SpikySpikes and proven by Grady, it is possible to trickjump to the top of the highest upright girder in the Metro Kingdom variant of the level before knocking it over.[2] This girder does not exist in the Dark Side variant.
  • Using the Yoshi capture in the Dark Side variant, it is possible to trickjump up to the high girder ledge above the level[3], as first discovered by Xdxboxjaja. This is the same girder ledge that houses a metal crate that spawns a Power Moon in the Metro Kingdom variant; however, in that variant, there is no known method of climbing onto the ledge.
