Poison Tide is a sub-world in Cap Kingdom accessed via a door on the backside of Top-Hat Tower. The level involves capturing a Paragoomba to collect Moon Shards while avoiding poison waves.
Trivia
- A corner clip can be performed on the right side of the entrance doorway as either Mario or a Paragoomba.[1][2] If performed as a Paragoomba, this allows the level to be explored thoroughly from out of bounds.
- Viewing the level from out of bounds reveals that the poison waves extend quite a bit past the ends of the level, and makes it apparent that new poison wave objects are periodically spawned in.
- A death area exists below the level as a failsafe for players who may clip out of bounds, but flying far enough as a Paragoomba makes it possible to fall past the edge of it, resulting in an infinite fall.[3]
- The entire level can be traversed without capturing a Paragoomba, allowing both moons and the three regional coins to be collected in Minimum Captures. It is possible to reach the other side of the large gap using poison skimming to collect the first moon,[4] and from there, some careful platforming can be used to land on the hole in the fence and trickjump back to the series of blocks protruding from the wall leading up to the secret moon.[5]
