Joystick neutrality
Joystick neutrality is a property of a joystick input that causes its radius to be treated as if it is zero. In most contexts, the left joystick is considered neutral if its radius is less than or equal to .1, causing the input to have no effect on Mario’s velocity or rotation. However, the game considers any joystick input with non-zero radius when determining if the player has spun the stick enough for Mario to begin spinning.
