Damage clip
A damage clip is a type of skew clip discovered by glitch hunter Syrkl[1] that involves attaining skew at the moment Mario takes damage, so that the damage animation forces Mario upright at the position of his feet, thus forcing him partially through an adjacent wall or ceiling. Damage clips are very similar to moon clips.
Execution
The execution for a damage clip is the same as a moon clip, however damage clips are more often performed with a 2P vault. This is because 2P vaults allow you to get skew lower to the ground, where most damage sources such as enemies are located. This is often preferred for damage clipping at low heights as it is considered easier to perform than other options such as Longjump Skew Clips. The steps for damage clipping with a 2P vault are:
- Have a damage source approach Mario
- Before he takes damage, perform a 2P vault.
- Cap throw once Mario is rotated about 90 degrees.
