Zipper Chasm is a sub-world in the Lake Kingdom accessed through an underwater door blocked by a zipper on the northwest side of the overworld. The level involves using zippers to reveal new pathways to traverse the level.

Trivia

  • The level can be completed in its entirety without the use of Cappy.[1] This can be done by trickjumping from the start to the lower area with the secret moon, skipping the first zipper. The main moon can then be reached using multiple additional trickjumps.
  • The thin walls surrounding the level have unique geometry that allows performing a double-sided wall clip.[2]
  • The game can be crashed by warping to a Checkpoint Flag while moving within the final zipper capture where the key is.[3] This can be done on any version of the game.
  • For the zipper leading to the secret moon, it is possible to trickjump up to and capture the top zipper before the bottom one. Unzipping it causes the small square to fall vertically and bounce around inside the larger wall panel, and it will remain there even after unzipping the larger panel.[4]
  • Uncapturing a zipper on its last corner, then recapturing it immediately after it displays the puff animation to indicate respawning but before it actually respawns, will cause the panel to get stuck after fully unzipping it.[5]
  • The large walls surrounding the level have collision on top, which would make it possible to stand on them if the top of them could be reached, but no known method exists.
