In most speedruns, spinpounds are most commonly used to get ontop of low standing walls or to scale a wall. This is because spinpounds are faster than groundpounds and give more height than backflips. In nearly every situation when the player is required to scale a wall, a spinpound is used. Notable exceptions include salt triple and left side (though it can be used in left side when accompanied by a cappy roll vault).
In most speedruns, spinpounds are most commonly used to get ontop of low standing walls or to scale a wall. This is because spinpounds are faster than a regular groundpound and give more height than a backflip.

A spinpound roll is faster than a normal roll in practically every situation. One of the only instances where it is faster to do a regular roll is at the start of lost kingdom koopa freerunning. Please be aware that spinpound rolls are only faster if they start a roll sequence and should not be used in a chain.
