Moon Cavern Skip (also referred to as Moon Cave Skip, Cave Skip or simply Moon Skip) is a jump that can be used

to skip the entirety of the Underground Moon Caverns in the Moon Kingdom.

Execution

To perform Moon Cavern Skip,

Either groundpound, backflip or sideflip off the Sphynx's head
Wall jump in the "L" shape made by the normal surface of the wall (See image)
Hold straight left until mario grabs the wall
Wall jump again to reach the platform

Uses in runs

This is used in all categories that needs to go through Moon Kingdom.

In the case of 100%, All Moons and Darker Side, this saves time by allowing the player to finish Moon Kingdom quickly on the first pass and come back a second time to allow the player to grab remaining moons from the first pass combined with the moons that spawns from achieving peace in the kingdom.
