The '''Sand Kingdom''' is the third kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey, and the first that allows the player a large degree of freedom in how to approach it. Because none of the [[Story Moon|Story Moons]] are required to exit the kingdom, the player can collect any moons they choose.

Regional coins (purple coins) in Sand Kingdom are shaped like the [[Inverted Pyramid]]. Checkpoints in Sand Kingdom have a green spire. Inhabitants of Sand Kingdom are called Tosterenans.
After collecting the "Atop the Highest Tower" moon, a platform appears. When Mario steps on it, it begins to move. This is the intended way to get to the Moe-Eye Habitat, but it is also possible to use a [[Bullet Bills|Bullet Bill]] to get across.

It is the first non-tutorial kingdom in the game, and the kingdom used in the demo. Tostarena is a desert village featuring a small town and a large ruins area. This kingdom's main landmark is the Inverted Pyramid, which is an upside-down pyramid located in the north-east section of the area. When Mario first visits here, the kingdom is covered with large pillars of ice and Bowser is found atop the Inverted Pyramid.

Main Story

After leaving the Cascade Kingdom, Mario and Cappy head to the Sand Kingdom. However, when they arrive, they find it covered in Sand. This is because the Broodals stole the Binding Band.

Atop the Highest Tower
