Jaxi Ruins skip (AKA Jaxi Skip) is a skip performed at the poison lake in the Sand Kingdom. It abuses the Bullet Bill capture, found in the ruins nearby, to get high enough to get on top of the ruins. Doing this skips an underground section. It also allows the player to talk to the Jaxi, and thus ride him, before obtaining the multi moon on top of the Inverted Pyramid.

Jaxi Ruins Skip (also known as simply Jaxi Skip) is a speedrun strategy that allows Mario to quickly reach the top of Jaxi Ruins in the Sand Kingdom using a Bullet Bill from the nearby ruins, without needing to traverse the underground cave to get there.

Execution

The trick begins by capturing a Bullet Bill from the Tostarena Ruins and flying over toward Jaxi Ruins. In most speedrun categories that use this skip, players will collect the On the Leaning Pillar moon as the Bullet Bill on the way over to Jaxi Ruins.

The Bullet Bill should be crashed into a specific spot toward the right side of the western wall of the structure (pictured at right). This spot can be identified as the upper left corner of the face emblem on the corner of the structure. After the Bullet Bill explodes and Mario is forced out, wall jump against the wall. At the peak of the wall jump, cap throw and dive onto the top of Jaxi Ruins.

A different way to perform this skip is by going to the back of the ruins and jumping on top of one of the Jaxi statues next to the entrance of the Jaxi Rider sub area. Then do a backflip and cap dive to get on the higher ledge. From here do another backflip and cap dive to get on top of the Jaxi Ruins.

Usage in runs

Since this trick can combine 3 quick moons together with the use of the same capture, many categories use it.

Any% & Dark Side

This trick is present in all routes of this category. It also allows the runner to grab the 50 coins chest which can be useful if they are including a shop moon in their route

World Peace

This trick is present in the beginner route for Sand Kingdom. Grabbing the checkpoint on the platform allowing you to come back after defeating Hariet in order to get closer to the entrance of the ice area where Knucklotec is.

The advanced route traded this in favor of Dram Strat while still grabbing On the Leaning Pillar and Inside a Block Is a Hard Place.

Darker Side

In darker side, the second variation of this trick is utilised right after grabbing On The Eastern Pillar.
