Crouching is one of the most basic moves in Super Mario Odyssey. It is performed by holding ZL or ZR, and many other moves can be initiated while in the crouching state.
Properties
While in the crouching state, Mario can perform numerous other actions:
- Pressing the jump button (A or B) will result in a backflip
- Pressing the jump button if Mario is sliding into a crouch after running will result in a long jump
- Pressing X or Y will cause Mario to begin a roll
- Attempting to walk will allow Mario to crouch walk, which is slower than normal walking and is useful for precise adjustments in positioning
If Mario is pushed under a low ceiling, he will forcibly crouch. Under these low ceilings, Mario will be unable to stand up normally and can only crouch walk or roll.
