Snow Clip refers to numerous clipping methods that can be used to get out of bounds in Shiveria Town, in order to access Snowline Circuit before opening all four barriers blocking the entrance. This is achieved by touching the loading zone from out of bounds, which is often done by landing in the ice slide below the town.

Methods

Snow Moon Clip

Main article: Snow Moon Clip

This method involves moon clipping out of bounds using the Shining in the Snow in Town moon. For many categories, this is the fastest known method of performing the clip, as it uses a moon that is collected regardless.

Roll cancel clips

Although many roll cancel clips exist to clip out of bounds in Shiveria Town, the three most well-known ones are listed below.

Screen Clip

This is one of the easiest and fastest methods to perform Snow Clip, taking place against the left wall near the bottom of the large projector screen.

Downstairs Snow Clip

The location of Downstairs Snow Clip

This method was the primary method of performing Snow Clip for a long time, until the discoveries of Snow Moon Clip and Screen Clip. The clip takes place on the right side of the hallway leading to Snowy Mountain.

Upstairs Snow Clip

This is the oldest known Snow Clip method and was actually the first roll cancel clip ever discovered, having been found accidentally by speedrunner Zinpars.[1] This variant takes place in the hallway on the upper level of the town. With this location being so far from the loading zone to Snowline Circuit, reaching the loading zone requires an out-of-bounds traversal that includes landing on an out-of-bounds section of the stairs in the center of the town. Due to this additional obstacle, Upstairs Snow Clip is generally no longer used in speedruns since the advent of simpler Snow Clip methods.

Uses

Speedruns

Snow Clip is used in numerous speedruns to access Snowline Circuit early, including World Peace, Darker Side, All Moons, and 100%.
