The name of the trick is a pun, because the trick bypasses [[2D Skip]], and the abbreviation 2DSS pays homage to the trick's similarities to [[Dino Skip Skip]], or DSS. Interestingly, performing 2DSS is the only known way to skip the 2D section and the associated ''Honeylune Ridge: Collapse (8-Bit)'' music track. If the skip is performed, the track will not show up in the music list that appears after beating the game.
