'''Version 1.0.0''' is the initial software version of Super Mario Odyssey. Game cartridges released around the time of the game's launch will feature version 1.0.0 as their base version (which can be upgraded via software), meaning that users with those cartridges can reset to version 1.0.0 by [[wikipedia:Factory_reset|factory resetting]] their Switch. However, because [[version 1.0.1]] was a day-one patch available from the moment the game was released digitally, it is impossible to acquire a digital copy of version 1.0.0 through normal means.

==Uses ==
While there are a few exceptions (most notably [[coin duplication]]), most of the game's glitches are possible in version 1.0.0. This makes it faster for most speedrun categories than certain subsequent versions that patched glitches and exploits, including the day-one patch of [[version 1.0.1]]. For example, [[Any%]] speedruns benefit from the use of [[First Moon Skip]], which is only possible on version 1.0.0. However, [[version 1.3.0]] features significantly faster load times than all previous versions, which offsets the time lost due to patched glitches for the vast majority of categories (including Any%), making it generally the fastest version.

Despite this, version 1.0.0 is still optimal, or even necessary in some cases, for certain categories that require or make heavy use of patched exploits, such as [[Star%]] and certain [[Minimum Captures]] runs.
