Luncheon slopevaults is an insanely difficult speedrun trick that showcases the divevault movement technique used on certain slopes to get across the magma to collect the Surrounded by Tall Mountains moon. This trick saves 5 seconds in Any% which is very risky to perform because there are high chances of cap jumping and not getting the vault off of cappy, and sliding off the slope and falling in the magma. Plus you only have one try for that to become successful in the run. The explanation is a little tricky to perform and there are precise button inputs for this to become achieved. Luncheon slopevaults can also be done in its setupless style without going into first person.

(This requires the MCCT cap throw for this to work, or without. Slanted cap throw.) Luncheon slopevaults can also be done in its setupless style without going into first person.

In order to perform Luncheon slopevaults the player must make it to this specific area of the Peronza Plaza. Mario must stand on this little opening almost entering the Path to the Meat Plateau. Next go into first person mode, when controlling the camera the R button should be somewhere close to the cheese. Exit first person mode and do a ground pound roll, start a triple jump and your double jump should be a little to the right and then your last jump should be somewhere before touching the edge. It could either be far away or a little close. It is a little difficult because you can lose momentum if Mario touches the chesse on his right a little too much. After doing your triple jump vector it to the right a little bit then go back a little left. Throw out cappy, the instant you throw out cappy, then dive. Cappy should be in a slanted position if done correctly. You should receive a divevault off of cappy. Then go towards the right a little bit. Then throw out cappy and jump on him. Throw cappy to the right a little and get a second divevault vectoring it a little bit.(if cappy is stuck on the second slope that stretches out a little you can somehow dive and get a vault off of him) Finally throw cappy and dive to the platform. Get a cap return jump, and to finish it do a spinpound to collect the moon on the edge of the mountains.
